The school also advocates for personal and community health and wellness.

Our democracy is in peril. INDIVISIBLE examines the political state of our nation, and its epidemic of xenophobia, sexism, and racism. Special opening night talkback guest will be bell hooks. bell hooks is one of our country’s most beloved and revered intellectuals, feminist theorists, cultural critics, and artists. Her writing reflects the intersection of race, capitalism, and gender, and what she describes as their ability to produce and perpetuate systems of oppression and class domination. She has published over 30 books and numerous scholarly articles, appeared in documentary films, and participated in public lectures. GBH Unplugged is an informal open mic event that brings together the 15 girls from our Girl Be Heard Trinidad and Tobago, Girl Empowerment Program. It is their first time presenting their work on a stage. The material presented includes pieces that are developed in the classrooms by the girls which are facilitated by Teaching Artist Deneka Thomas with the assistance of Teaching artists Arielle John and Tishanna Williams. Topics includes issues of social justice, family, identity, race, gender, body image, sexuality, school, bullying, and other themes around what it means to be a girl today.
