Lysandra V, 18, joined Girl Be Heard in 2017. She is now a high school senior interested in earning a PhD in biophysics and genetics. Inspired by science and the world around her, her pieces are poetically-scientific™. Lysandra can be found spitting useless facts, making goofy jokes and obscure references.
Mariah Ayscue (GBH Directing Fellow 2015, Current Company Member) has trained at Action Theatre Conservatory. She is a playwright, director, poet and performer. She is attracted to non-linear, experimental, guerilla and devised theatre. Her work is for POC, LGBTQIA, female bodied, the Lower-Middle Class and the Poor. It took her a long time to find the crown she wears every day. She hopes that people find their crowns someday and walk the streets unashamed.
Camryn Bruno is an 18-year-old Queens born, Trinbagonian spoken word poet. She currently holds the Trinidad and Tobago First Citizens National Poetry Slam title for 2017 and the Ms. Tobago Heritage Personality Queen 2017. Bruno is a freshman at York College and is internationally recognized. Her poems explore social issues that affect youths. Jayde is a bubbly outgoing creative model/actress, who is looking forward to being an A-list actress. Jayde is a first-generation Brooklyn born and raised native who a is goal oriented, versatile artist that writes and performs her own pieces, finding joy in making people laugh and advocating for women’s rights through her consistent work with Girl Be Heard. Jayde is a talented rising star to look out for.

Jamilah, 18, joined Girl Be Heard in 2017. She is now a senior in high school, majoring in vocal, and plans to study musical theatre in college. Some of her favorite credits include: Roxie in Chicago, Dorothy in The Wiz, Emily in Peace, Love, and Cupcakes, and being one of the hosts for American Girl’s web series, AG Life. Jamilah enjoys writing posts for her girl empowerment blog, singing, acting, and motivationally speaking.
Alyssa Martinez graduated from Renaissance High School for musical theatre and technology, She is a college sophomore and currently working on a collection/book of poetry to publish.
Chelsea Allison is an actor/poet/playwright from New York. She is a member of the 2017 Urban Word Slam Team which placed semi finals at the 2017 Brave New Voices slam poetry competition. She has been a company member of Girl Be Heard since 2016. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Dramatic Arts at The New School of Drama. Her mission is to tell truthful stories that honor the women that got her here.
