March 15, 2023 Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month

Studio Simpatico

A mural celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Buffalo, New York by Betsy Casañas

Dear Girl Be Heard Community,

In honor of Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana, also known as Hispanic Heritage Month, join us in recognizing the achievements and contributions of Latine champions, including our participants and staff who identify as Hispanic/Latine, and represent a diversity of voices and communities.

These powerful individuals continue to inspire us and pave the way for future generations. Check out our social media where we spotlight these powerful advocates and artivists.

In other news, we are excited for the launch of GBH’s 2022/23 programming in 13 sites across NYC. Our offerings this year include our filmmaking program, Girls Make Movies, After-School Workshop, and Weekend Workshop art residencies. We are also welcoming girls, young women, and non-binary youth ages 15 – 21 to audition for our pre-professional Artistic Company. More on that below and on our socials.

Wishing you a warm rest of the week filled with ease and community.

MEET OUR NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Angela Fatou Gittens as Girl Be Heard’s Artistic Director!

Dr. Gittens is a proud South Carolina Gullah Sea Islands descendant born in Baltimore, MD.
